Liturgy Committee The Saint Francis Liturgy Committee is made up of parishioners representing the various liturgical ministers along with one of the priests of the parish. Its function is to plan different liturgical celebrations throughout the year so that the parish community can worship the Lord in a joyful and prayerful manner. In addition to the Sunday Masses each week, the committee works on the Lenten and Easter Liturgies, the Advent and Christmas celebrations, and special liturgies that may come up during the year.
Altar Servers The parish of St. Francis is proud of its altar servers. These young people assist the priests in the serving of Mass and other liturgical services. Boys and girls in the fourth grade on are eligible. Students need not attend Saint Francis School to become a member. Their fundraisers each year include their Christmas Chocolate Lollipop Sale.
All fundraisers require the children to set up, run, and clean up each event as part of their commitment to the organization.
Eucharistic Ministers Eucharistic Ministers are lay parishioners who assist the priests in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ. Another joyful part of this ministry is bringing the Eucharist to the homebound. In this way, those not able to attend Mass may realize that they not only receive the Body of Christ, but are also part of the community itself and are supported by the love of their brothers and sisters.
Lectors Lectors are those who help the parish worship through the Ministry of the Word. By proclaiming the readings at Mass, the lectors help make the Word of God present and active for all who hear it. By offering the parish an opportunity to experience the presence of the Lord in the Scriptures, lectors assist others in being formed by that Word.
Ushers The Ushers are a group of parishioners who form a ministry of hospitality at every Saturday evening and Sunday Mass. Their most important contribution lies in welcoming people to the church. They make people feel "at home" in the community of worshippers by their friendly attitude and willing assistance to parishioners.
