Dear Parishioners,
This year, the weekend of February 6th & 7th was designated as Pledge weekend for the 2010 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. I think we all know the importance of the Appeal, and I thank all parishioners who give to the Appeal annually. This past year we reached our goal and we received a rebate check from the Archdiocese for $5,457.00. We were about 3,000.00 short of our goal of $60,000.00 to receive a rebate check for $10,000.00. This year I would like to reach that goal which would allow us to receive the rebate check of $10,000.00. I am asking everyone in the parish once again to continue your generous tradition of support this year. The funds collected go to the Archdiocese for various needs. It allows needy parishes to stay open; enables our huge social services network to help the disadvantaged; and it helps both our elderly priests in their continued service to the Archdiocese and the seminarians in training. In addition to all those things it also allows our Parish to receive monies for our much needed food pantry. This year we received $2,000.00
Last year we sent you a similar letter and rather than speaking to you at all the masses on pledge weekend, I am again enclosing a pledge brochure and envelope for you to fill out.
You can bring it to Church and put it into the collection basket during Mass or mail it back and/or drop it off at the rectory. I know that some of you may have already been contacted by the Archdiocese and have made a pledge for this year. You will not need to fill out another pledge card. Our parish will get the credit either way. Thank you for your support.
How much should someone contribute? Consider that a $200 pledge translates to less than $20 a month, which is less than the cost for dinner and a movie. Many of our parishioners make a one time donation due to their limited income, and this is perfectly understandable and extremely appreciated as well. Any amount you can contribute is always helpful. I know it has been a rough year for many of you, but I must ask that you consider making a pledge or donation. Your contribution will help many people in the Archdiocese.
Again I am grateful for your generosity and willingness to help those in need not only for the Appeal but for all that you give and share with the parish.
