A Message from Msgr. Richard
Retiring on July 1st after having served for 25 years as pastor of St. John the Evangelist parish in Bergenfield, I never expected to be called back into official service as temporary administrator here at St. Francis of Assisi, but here I am. Unfortunately, it will only be part-time, since I had already made a weekend commitment to St. Pius X parish in Forked River, not far from my retirement home.
I started on October 11th here, and I am working weekdays with Fr. Bart and the parish staff, all of whom I have found to be fully dedicated to the well-being of the parish. Should any of you wish to speak with me, please call the parish office to make an appointment, or email me at MsgrRJA@aol.com.
Please be assured that I will do everything in my power to keep this parish moving forward until a new pastor is named. In the meantime, let us continue to pray for one another!
Msgr. Richard Arnhols
Temporary Administrator
Dear Parishioners,
Our church calendar tells us that we are observing the Ascension of Our Lord into heaven today. Our civic calendar adds that today is also Mother’s Day.
The two observances may be more intertwined than we might first imagine. Jesus, the Son of God, became one like us by being conceived in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit. He lived, died, and rose that our sins may be forgiven and ascended to heaven so He could send the Holy Spirit, the divine love of Father and Son for each other, that we may be accompanied in our own journey to heaven.
Mothers seek not only their own sanctification through faithfully caring for their families, but most often are the ones who show us what true human sacrificial love can be and encourage us to also live in the divine love of God through our celebration of the Sacraments with the goal of one day triumphing in the unending joys of heaven.
May today be an opportunity to rejoice in God’s Love for us, and to show our gratitude to our moms by our prayers and the way we live!
Msgr. Richard Arnhols –
Temporary Administrator
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
ALL ARE WELCOME IN THIS PLACE
